Feb 1, 2012: With assistance from the Municipal Heritage Partnership Program, the Town of Olds has begun implementing a Heritage Management Plan. This document could not exist without overwhelming community support and the outstanding work that the Olds Institute & Uptowne Olds accomplished in spearheading the heritage initiatives in Olds.

FTTP Report Completed
Dec 9, 2011: A report was recently submitted to the Rural Alberta's Development Fund. Financial support from RADF was used to provide the necessary investment to augment and leverage local community support and enable the establishment of the Olds Community Engagement Site and the design of the Connected Community Network (Fibre to the Premise – FTTP).

The Olds Advisory Group for Sustainable Living was instrumental in seeing Olds became the first officially-designated Fair Trade Town in the province of Alberta in November 2009.

Business & Investment Attraction There are also numerous opportunities to identify potential new business for our community through organizations such as the Olds College School of Innovation.
This committee aims to attract new businesses and investment to support and enhance managed, sustainable growth of our community and region.
The Business and Investment Attraction Committee is enthused about the possibilities for a hotel/convention centre in Olds. With a focus on business attraction, we hope to see real investment take place and deals made that bring new and growing companies to town.
Business Retention and Expansion The Business Expansion and Retention Committee has been working on projects such as the new Uptowne Olds, an initiative to welcome shoppers to the downtown core.
The Institute supports local business in their expansion plans, and encourages business to remain in Olds.
Uptowne Olds has made huge strides in a short period of time. From initiating an Historic Survey, to creating a new marketing and branding initiative, this group of energetic entrepreneurs has demonstrated how quickly things can move.
Technology Central Alberta will be a place to grow, thanks to a partnership of eight organizations and the Rural Alberta Development Fund.
Olds will be one of the first communities in Alberta to offer fibre to the premises for residents and businesses.
An extensive community consultation identified ICT connectivity to the SuperNet as being the critical issue necessary to make Olds a vibrant, sustainable entrepreneurial community with a quality of life that would retain and attract Alberta’s brightest.
Community Lifestyle Physician Recruitment and Affordable Housing are top priorities for the Community Lifestyle Committee.
