Every community has its idea of what constitutes a high quality of life. Some think it is enhancing entertainment and recreational opportunities. Some think it is development of culture and the arts. Some think it is maintenance of the environment.

The lifestyle in Olds reflects the values and interests of our residents, which translates into a strong sense of community pride. We think it is more than having a good job or a roof over our heads. We think it is safe and friendly neighbourhoods. We think it is beautiful parks and lots of things to do. And we believe it is an abundance of people giving back to their community - the place we call home.

The Community Lifestyles Committee of the Olds Institute is made up of residents who believe we can influence the future shape of our community. Our mandate is to help manage change, rather than having change manage us. We want to create our preferred future.

This group of diverse thinking individuals helped the Town develop the very first Olds Strategic Sustainability Plan. We are continually involved in Physician Recruitment and Retention, and were involved in having Olds declared the first Fair Trade town in Alberta. We know our work and volunteer commitment is received in the community as a gift.
