GETTING TO KNOW CHALLENGES OF LOCAL BUSINESS
Business Visitation Program survey gives Olds business owners a forum for discussion
(OLDS, Alberta – June 7, 2016) With the data collected from the Business Visitation Program Survey, the Olds Institute aims to gauge the current business climate in Olds. The results from the survey completed by businesses in Olds will be used to aid the Olds Institute and the Town of Olds in planning their economic development efforts. The 30 minute survey, known as the BVP Survey can be completed online or with the aid of Nish Naidoo, Project Facilitator from the Olds Institute. A series of questions have been developed to gain an overlook of the local economy and the participants names are kept confidential.
“The goal of this program is to engage the business community and support economic growth in Olds”, according to Nish Naidoo, Project Facilitator for the Olds Institute.
The BVP Survey serves multiple functions such as a forum to discuss municipal government influence of issues that affect the success of local business. There is also the opportunity to share the availability of resources required to support retention or expansion of current business and aspiring entrepreneurs or start-ups. Such things as human resource or business training requirements are also expected to come from the results of the survey.
The Business Attraction, Retention & Expansion committee of the Olds Institute was formed to attract new businesses and investment to our region and to develop a framework for moving Olds forward by assisting local businesses to expand.
The Olds Institute was formed in 2001 by community leaders who realized they could achieve more together than they could apart. It is governed by a volunteer board of directors representing their four founding members and members of the community at large.
