LOCALLY OWNED UTILITY COMPANY SUPPORTS EMERGENCY SHELTER WITH FUNDING

Mountain View Power helps power our community with a contribution to emergency shelter

(OLDS, Alberta – April 28, 2017) Mountain View Power, a locally owned utility reseller, returns profits back to the community with a donation to the Mountain View Emergency Shelter. This funding from Olds Institute and Mountain View Power will assist with delivery of both personal counselling and group education programs and services for victims of family violence in the community.

According to the Mountain View Emergency Shelter website:

“Mountain View Emergency Shelter Society is an organization that provides support and shelter for adults and children escaping violence.

Mountain View Emergency Shelter Society assists victims of family violence in rebuilding their lives by providing crisis intervention and support services.

Mountain View Emergency Shelter Society promotes awareness, education and advocates for early intervention and prevention of family violence.”

Mountain View Power was founded in 2010 by the Olds Institute for Community & Regional Development as an innovative Community Sustainability Initiative. Selling electricity, natural gas and green generated power to residential, farming and small business Mountain View Power powers our community with 100 per cent of the profits used to support and grow our community and region in a vibrant and sustainable manner.

The Olds Institute was formed in 2001 by community leaders who realized they could achieve more together than they could apart. It is governed by a volunteer board of directors representing their four founding members and includes members of the community at large.
