OI Full-time Position: Director of First Impressions October 2017

As a non-profit community and economic development organization, The Olds Institute for Community and Regional Development is owned by the community and driven by volunteers. Also known as the Olds Institute or OI, we leverage the resources in the community, empowering volunteers to build the innovative and entrepreneurial community that Olds has become famous for.

The Olds Institute was formed in 2001 by community leaders who realized they could achieve more together than they could apart and is governed by a board of directors representing the our core members and the community at large.

The core members are the Town of Olds, Olds and District Chamber of Commerce, Olds College, Olds Regional Exhibition and Mountain View County.

 

The Director of First Impressions:

  • Works for the Olds Institute, reports to the Executive Director and provides administrative support to that role. This includes agenda assembly, minute taking and preparation of general correspondence for distribution.
  • Is the first point of contact for the Everything Olds Information and Entrepreneur Centre
  • Provides phone and frontline assistance to the public for multiple organizations; this includes information sharing, referrals and support related to community initiatives and organizational objectives
  • Supports staff and volunteer coordination making relevant logistical arrangements for meeting participants, spaces and equipment as well as calendars and travel
  • Supports data collection and data input, report preparation and file management
  • Supports a variety of direct and collaborative initiatives and encourages the development of volunteers, partnerships and cooperative relationships
  • Supports the creation and dissemination of meeting packages for project teams
  • Supports effective communication within the organization and the greater community through in-person dialogue, digital platforms and traditional mediums of correspondence.

 

Education and experience:

College diploma in office administration and demonstrated experience as an office manager or executive assistant.

A valid class 5 Driver’s License

  • A strong understanding of modern software applications and demonstrated skills in application in office administration, marketing and communications as well as collaborative work environments;
  • A working knowledge of WordPress would be considered an asset.

The successful candidate will act with integrity and have a strong customer service focus. They will demonstrate organizational effectiveness and communicate professionally. They will be adaptable and friendly.

 

Working Conditions:

  • This position works 40 hours per week which includes occasionally working evenings and weekends for meetings, program supervision and evaluation which may require rearranging work day to accommodate community needs.
  • Required to travel outside of Olds on occasion.
  • Deals with the public, volunteers and numerous stakeholders.
  • Light lifting on occasion to transport program materials and to set up tables and chairs.
